CPPFES2005A - Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment
This course will equip you with the skills required to control small workplace fire emergencies. The objective of the course is to recognise a small workplace emergency and control it using a nearby fire extinguisher.
COURSE CONTENT SUMMARY
Demonstrate correct use of portable fire extinguishers to extinguish simulated fires:
- Fire type and classification are determined
- Fire extinguishers are selected to attack different fires
- Safe use of fire extinguishers is demonstrated according to manufacturers’ instructions and relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures
Demonstrate correct use of fire hose reels:
- Safe use of hose reels is demonstrated according to manufacturers’ instructions and relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures
- Water is turned off in the approved sequence and hose reel is checked for leaks
- Hose reel is rewound correctly after use
Demonstrate correct use of fire blanket:
- Safe use of fire blankets is demonstrated according to manufacturers’ instructions and relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION OUTCOMES
On successful completion of this course students will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for 'CPPFES2005A - Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment' with the option of a wallet sized card also. The Unique Student Identifier must be supplied and verified prior to issuance.
VALIDITY OF CERTIFICATION
Your Statement of Attainment does not have an expiry date.
Course Delivery
Training and assessment is one-day course, generally conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients, provided there are suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities available.

Prerequisite Information

Communication
Participants are required to speak and write in English along with good literacy and numeracy skills. Participants will need to be able to read and write detailed reports. The ability to communicate complex skills to other participants is a requirement to meet the course requirements.
Participants needing support will receive the needed help. Extra support may incur further costs to the participant.
Physical capacity
Have a good level of fitness to be able to conduct good manual handling techniques. You should be able to safely pick up 20kg and conduct 10 minutes of mild continuous exercise.
Drivers License
Have a valid or the equivalent of an Australian drivers license.
